4-D dark ride: An immersive experience that takes place in a space with theatrical seating and a large curved screen. In these experiences, the seats may move to give the audience members the sensation of traveling. (Such a seat is called a motion base chair). In addition, these rides involve other senses beyond vision and sound, including touch, smell, and temperature change. These sensations are used to bring the audience into the fourth dimension. Such experiences may also be called ridefilms.
