Abstract

Data will be collected mostly using IoT apps. These technologies will be used in “smart cities”, which have scalability and security issues. Internet of Things devices will search cities for data that could inform governmental decisions. Edge and fog computing will power these devices. Confirming Edge Computing data accuracy is one concern. Blockchain has become a key technology for fintech and cryptocurrency transactions due to its reliable security. Its dispersed and decentralized network and robust encryption help it overcome this challenge. IoT and blockchain enable SC applications to share security info. These data could combat DDOS attacks. IoT devices in an SC may have a long lifespan increasing firmware issues. Smart contracts can detect, check, and authenticate IoT device communication providing consumers’ confidence in the information they get. This study examines if blockchain technology can protect IoT network data.
