6: Digital twin model creation of solar panels
Abstract
This chapter focuses on creating digital twin model for photovoltaic cells. The model can be used for Off-Board Diagnostics (Off-BD) of the cells. First the model is built using Simscape. It takes into account the solar irradiance as an input and provides the power and current as output. Then a technique is proposed to factor solar panel temperature as a major disturbance to the system. A diagnostic concept is proposed to detect failures impacting power generation. The chapter concludes with an application problem. All the codes are open source and can be downloaded for free from Matlab Central by searching for Nassim Khaled’s contribution codes.
