One of the most exciting technological achievements of
our time is the impending convergence- though some
would say collision- between Television and Computer
Imaging. An outside observer might find this statement
puzzling. Television and computer graphics seem to have
so much in common that they should already be con-
verged. Both deal with images that are displayed on
electronic displays. Both break an image clown into scan
lines and pixels. Both express pixels with three compo-
