Glossary

The terms in this glossary are intended to cover most aspects of this new technology called digital video recorders (DVRs). Yet, the reader will note that many are actually terms embedded in the older, and larger, television industry, because DVRs remain such an integral part of that bigger picture.

Access Card It is a credit card-sized plastic card supplied to a valid subscriber by a multichannel TV company, such as a pay TV direct broadcast satellite (DBS), cable, or telephone company.
