Chapter Three An Overview of the DBS Communication System

3.1 Overview

Figure 3.1 is a simplified schematic/block diagram of the DBS communication system. There is a separate identical system for each transponder. Starting at the left of Figure 3.1, source materials from a variety of sources are delivered to the uplink facility, including analog satellite backhaul, cable, fiber, and packaged goods (analog or digital).
