Libraries are an important part of patrons’ normal routines. When a disaster strikes, it is natural for patrons to be concerned about their libraries, and about the library employees with whom they deal regularly. Patrons and other members of the public might converge on libraries after a disaster, and attempt to assess the damage. Patrons can be especially interested in library closures, and librarians should follow safe practices to close their facilities. Many patrons will require reassurance about the post-disaster condition of the library and its operational resumption.
