AL GOLIN, FOUNDER, GOLIN HARRIS

Al Golin began his public relations career as a field press representative with MGM Studios. He then joined the firm Max Cooper and Associates, with a staff of six, in 1956. At that time public relations was what most people referred to as “publicity” people. In 1957, Golin placed a cold call to Ray Croc, founder of the then-fledgling McDonald’s hamburger chain. Kroc asked Golin to come over and meet him. An hour later, Golin started working for McDonald’s on a retainer of $500 a month. McDonald’s has been an account of Golin Harris for more than 50 years.
