Self-assessment
Through self-assessment, we learn to take better control of our emotions effectively, especially when we are in a state of disorganisation or confusion.
Assessing how we are ‘being’ in those times, in particular, undoubtedly will serve us better than being ignorant of the impact we may, inadvertently, be having on other people.
Self-assessment is about how, when and where we prioritise and then consciously or deliberately choose to use the emotional characteristics we have within us.
Years ago, when I first started to learn the Japanese martial art of Aikido, my Sensei, Dennis Burke, used to say to me repeatedly, ‘Stop doing and start being.’
