The magic of gauze

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Objective

To explore the technique of dissolving (or ‘bleeding’) through a gauze from the picture painted on the gauze to the picture set behind.

Setting

A painted gauze hangs at the front of the stage (Figure P.12). Blacks are available to back this gauze. (The gauze and backs should be capable of being flown if possible, otherwise they are moved on tab tracks). A painted backcloth (or sky cloth or blacks) hangs at the back of the stage.

Rig

In addition to the 15 lights shown on the plan, up to a further 15 may be rigged where required. A small hand-held smoke gun (e.g. Minimist or Scotty) may be made available on request. Flood coverage (three-colour if possible) should be available for the backcloth ...
