12.1 Introduction
In the past few years, MAGnetic LEViation (MAGLEV) suspension systems has
been attracting more and more attention as a promising transportation system [146].
Compared with conventional trains, the major superiority of MAGLEV train lies
in that the friction, mechanical losses, vibration, and noise are reduced substan-
tially since it replaces the wheels by electromagnets, levitates on the guideway and
