About the Author

Trish Power is an author and journalist, and co-founder of independent information websites SuperGuide (www.superguide.com.au) and LearnerInvestor (www.learnerinvestor.com.au).

Most of her time is now dedicated to the two websites, although she writes a regular column for the Fairfax publication Smart Investor, and an occasional article for The Australian Financial Review. Trish has also written 13 books (including two as co-author) in a 12-year period.

She has spent more than 25 years working in, or writing about the superannuation, SMSF and financial industries. Trish began her working life as a superannuation specialist, before embarking on a full-time writing career. She describes much of her financial writing as educative journalism. Trish is passionately committed to raising the level of financial literacy in Australia and empowering individuals to improve their financial circumstances.

She started her career working as a superannuation expert, including being responsible for public education at the Insurance and Superannuation Commission (predecessor to APRA), working on financial policy in the Office of the Chairman at ASIC, and was Technical Manager for CPA Australia’s Superannuation Centre of Excellence in the 1990s, before moving into journalism and book writing. Trish has also worked on member communication campaigns for some of the largest superannuation funds in Australia.
