Antoni Tàpies (1923–2012) was one of Spain’s foremost contemporary artists. Inspired by Surrealism, his abstract work was executed in a variety of materials, which included concrete and metal.

A wide variety of his work is housed here in the first domestic building in Barcelona to be built with iron, designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner in 1880.
