Do Business Better

I told you in the intro that if you gave me a few hours, I'd save you months or even years in your quest to do business better. I promised a return on your investment of time and money.

To help you reap serious ROI from these pages, we're going to do a brief recap. I'm also going to share my thoughts on the simplicity of success. But first, a word about how this all came together.

Three Conversations

Writing a book isn't physically demanding labor; however, it's still an undertaking. I had notes, stories, ideas, files, and countless examples to share with business‐minded individuals such as you. The fuzzy part was knowing exactly what to tell you and how best to share it.

Then I got some good advice from a person more knowledgeable about writing than me: Larry Winget. Larry is a six‐time New York Times/Wall Street Journal best‐selling author. He wrote the foreword to this book. Over cigars and drinks I told him my contemplations. He said, “You know a ton about business. You've run your own successful business. You're on the road speaking to business audiences every week. Just write down what you know and remember who it's for.”

The next conversation was with my wife. Lori's insight brought it home. “Damian,” she said, “Write the book you wish someone had given you during the first few years running your own business. Something that would have saved you a lot of grief.”
