Think about a wolf pack. Researchers in Estonia found that when wolves no longer lived, traveled, and hunted in packs (because too many pack leaders were being killed by hunters), the wolves had a much worse time of it.

Wolf researcher Enn Vilbaste says, “Loners are the worst—they don’t have pack support to hunt down wild prey. So they come near the human settlements to kill dogs and other domestic animals.”

Together—with support from other pack members—wolves can catch much bigger prey.
