Summary

We covered significant ground in this chapter. Starting with a sample legacy COBOL/CICS/VSAM application, we went on to discover the legacy artifact that is the best candidate for enabling SOA using the Relativity tools set. Then we used Oracle Studio for Legacy Adapters to expose the legacy VSAM artifact. We used Oracle JDeveloper to create the web-based Java EE frontend for our application. Next, we created the Java module to invoke the Oracle Connect Legacy adapter on the mainframe using the Java EE Connector standard. We deployed our application to the Oracle Application Server, and showed it running. Not bad for one chapter. You now have everything you need to execute a Legacy SOA Integration pilot project.
