Creating the storage

Our cluster needs to store its state somewhere. Kops uses Amazon S3 buckets for that purpose. An S3 bucket is a logical unit of storage in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) object storage service, Simple Storage Solution (S3). Buckets are used to store objects, which consist of data and metadata that describes the data. To create a bucket, execute the following aws command:

$ aws s3api create-bucket \
--bucket my-cluster-store \
--region eu-central-1 \
--create-bucket-configuration LocationConstraint=eu-central-1
