Chapter 2. Working with Content

In this chapter, we will explore the following concepts:

  • Importing and exporting content
  • Linking to folders
  • Checking out and checking in
  • Versioning
  • Formats and renditions
  • Deleting versions

We have placed this chapter before Chapter 3, Objects and Types because it is more intuitive to think about working with files than with the metadata associated with them. It is also easier to illustrate and grasp the concepts in the context of working with files. However, objects and content are closely coupled in a Documentum repository. Objects can exist without content but content cannot exist without the associated objects in the repository. Therefore, it may be beneficial to revisit this chapter after going through Chapter 3
