Versioning

Recall that importing or creating a new document assigns version 1.0 to it, by default. Checking out and checking in this document creates a new version of the document, which is a separate document with its own content and metadata. Repeating this process, several versions can be derived from one original document.

A version tree is a visualization of multiple versions derived directly or indirectly from the same root document. A version tree is typically drawn from top to bottom or from left to right, with the root version drawn first. The figure below shows a simple version tree, which only has a trunk:
