USING THE SKETCH METHOD
A quick, sketchy style can be especially effective for drawing a dog with long, fluffy hair. (See page 8.) This style of drawing works particularly well for portraying a dog in motion or in the distance, when attention to detail is less important. Although you will be utilizing sketching techniques for this project, they will result in a semi-realistic drawing.
The Shetland Sheepdog (also called a “Sheltie”), with its long, full coat lends itself to a quick-sketching method. Remember to keep the head and features relatively detailed so they don’t become overwhelmed by the size and texture of the rest of the body.
