17Personal Goals

I really wouldn't be inspired to achieve any of my professional goals if I didn't have my incredible family – my dad, my late mum, my sister, my wife and my children, and my extended family – supporting me and benefiting from my achievements. It is my number one goal to ensure my family are safe, happy and well. Everything for me starts and ends with family. That's my lifeblood. I love my business, I love my job, I love my team; I am ambitious and I want to inspire people, but the people who are the most important to me are my family, especially my children.

Children are our future, and I will do anything to keep mine safe, healthy and grounded. A big part of that is keeping them aware of how privileged they are, to ensure they feel gratitude for the fortunate lives they lead. And I am very proud to say that they are all kind, generous, grateful, grounded individuals. Nothing showed me that more than the comparison between two family holidays we had.

A couple of years ago, having kept our holidaying at a reasonably modest level in past years, I decided to blow the budget a bit. We went on a no-expense-spared holiday to the Bahamas. It was absolutely lovely, but all we did was eat loads of good food and sunbathe on stunning beaches. Compare that to the year before, when we had hired a motorhome and travelled all around Europe on a strict budget and you might assume that the Bahamas holiday was our favourite. But no! We loved our European adventure the most. ...
