Don’t blame yourself. You are only the bearer of the unfortunate news that one or more individuals is going to lose their job. You are not the decision maker and it is not your fault. You are simply carrying out your responsibility to the organization. If you don’t deliver this bad news, it would fall to someone else. You can’t control the events that are impacting your organization—all you can do is to try to make the process as tolerable as possible for everyone involved, including yourself.
