Exercise 29: SKETCHING WITH A CRAFT KNIFE

IN THIS EXERCISE, YOU WILL CREATE A SCENE WITH CUTOUT PAPER SHAPES. YOUR CRAFT KNIFE BECOMES YOUR DRAWING INSTRUMENT. YOU WILL CUT AWAY SHAPES TO FORM WINDOWS, TURRETS, ROOFTOPS, CHIMNEYS, AND EVEN ROADS.

MATERIALS

Newspaper or large craft paper

A few pages from an old book with text on it or scrapbook paper with a design

Pencil

Cutting mat

Craft knife

Straightedge

Hole punch

Black or white craft paper or heavy cardstock

Inexpensive flat brush for applying decoupage or gel medium
