CAD modeling

Contemporary CAD software enables models to be made by transferring digital files to modelmaking machines at a variety of scales. There is also software that enables visualization, so existing and proposed urban landscapes can be better understood. Virtual-reality environments can simulate real spaces to allow exploration of the city.

The CAD model gives a different impression from the physical model. It can cover an enormous physical area and it can be viewed at a range of scales, from street level to a bird’s-eye view of the whole cityscape.
