In the decade since the inaugural meeting of LUPEC Boston, Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails, gin has arrived. It’s gone from the drink of our granddads that our young, hip bar guests refused to touch to one of the most popular sips ordered by savvy cocktailians. This excites us for many reasons. First, it is a spirit that served as vodka’s less approachable sibling for too long; second, there is a vast universe of classic cocktails that employ gin as the base; and finally, gin is enjoying a renaissance, with new exciting styles released each year. What follows are modern creations that employ gin artfully enough to bring a tear to our eyes.
