The Poll module enables you to add polls and surveys to your Web site. The module supports a basic multiple-choice format that allows users to respond to a question by selecting from a predefined set of answer choices. The answers are tallied and stored on the site for the administrator or the users to view. Polls and surveys are useful to you as an administrator because they both add interactivity to your site and give you a means of soliciting feedback and information from the site users.
In this chapter, I introduce the Poll module, the Poll content type, and the options that are available for managing the content associated with the Poll functionality. I also review the various system resources for theming your polls.
Drupal's Poll module supports the creation of one or more multiple-choice surveys. The module enables a dedicated content type called, appropriately, Poll. The administrator creates a new poll by creating a new content item of the appropriate type. The various polls are managed with Drupal's standard content item management tools.
Once created and published, the poll accumulates responses in a running total and provides a display of the results in a simple bar chart format. The poll form and the results can be shown either in the content region of the page or in a block. ...
