This chapter walked through some of the routine basic maintenance tasks and looked at logging and reporting. In the first section of this chapter we looked at running
cron.php and how to rebuild our search index. We learned that either our web server or another type of job scheduler should run
cron.php periodically. Then we reviewed how and when to rebuild permissions.
The next part talked about caching and when we might want to use caching and Bandwidth Optimization for sites with a large number of users. We learned that block caching applies only to authenticated or logged in users, while general site caching only applies to non-authenticated users.
