When I’m dining out, I’m frequently overwhelmed by the choices on a menu. Especially when traveling, I really want to try everything that is in season and locally grown. Like many others, I’ll stare blankly at a menu before giving up and having one of my default menu selections of fish and chips or lamb. While staring at a menu, recently a friend of mine gave a name to this overwhelmed feeling: option paralysis. Having a name for the term didn’t make choosing what to have for supper any easier, but I did like being able to label my affliction.
