Next, we provide a short description of the main hardware components.
POWER6+ processor technology
The DS8000 series uses the IBM POWER6+™ technology, which is the foundation of the
storage system logical partitions (LPARs). The DS8800 (951) 2-way and 4-way models use
the dual 2-way and 4-way processor complexes of the 64-bit microprocessors. Within the
POWER6+ servers, the DS8000 series offers up to 384 GB of cache.
Internal communication
The DS8000 comes with a high-bandwidth, fault-tolerant internal interconnection, which is
