9.1 Planning and preparing UNIX servers for performance
Planning and configuring a UNIX system for performance is never a simple task. There are
numerous factors to consider before tuning parameters and deciding the ideal setting. To help
you answer these questions, consider the following factors:
Type of application: There are thousands of applications available on the market. But, it is
possible to group them into a few types, based on their I/O profile. The I/O profile helps
