INTRODUCTION

DVD vs. CD Recorders
If you have a DVD recorder,
you can burn all of the projects
listed in DVD Builder. If you
have only a CD-RW, you can
burn a Video CD, Super Video
CD, and DVD on CD (or “mini
DVD”).
When you open DVD Builder, you
will need to select a project type.
While we will concentrate on the
more versatile DVD digital disc,
note that there are other project
options to choose from, depend-
ing on your needs. You would use
the Video CD option to create a
simple movie disc for users with-
out a DVD player.
Using Mini DVD or DVD
on CD
Burning your DVD project to a
CD will reduce the amount of
video you can include, and limit
playback to computer-based
DVD-ROM drives—these discs
won’t play on consumer DVD
drives.

Video CDs
Video CDs and Super Video
CDs are movie discs with
slightly less interactivity than
DVDs but they play nearly
everywhere. SVCDs hold less
video because the video is bet-
ter quality—MPEG-2. VCDs
hold more video of VHS quality.

Using Other Themes
Notice how applying a new
theme changes the look of not
just the background, but the
frames of the buttons and the
design and color of the text. A
theme provides a completely
different feel and flavor for
your project.
