Part 6 Connecting to the Internet
The Internet consists of many, many computers that are connected together through a series of networks. Some computers are servers, hosting web pages; others store directory information and help computers see and find each other on the Internet. Browser software enables you to see web pages and other data stored on the Internet.
There are many different ways to connect to the Internet. In most cities, cable modems, which are offered through cable TV service providers, such as Comcast, are relatively popular. DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) provides Internet via telephone lines. You can also sign up for Internet access via cell phone providers.
