Improving energy efficiency in railway powertrains

Abstract
This chapter reviews the use of multi-objective optimization techniques for improving powertrain technology. It discusses improving the design of an onboard energy storage system (ESS) for a tramway as well as the transformer of a tram-train and its PWM rectifier.
