Learning from Food Security, Nutrition, Health and Sanitation Systems of the South Asian Countries

Food Security, nutrition, health and sanitation are closely interlinked issues. This interlinkage is best described in Figure 5.1, taken from Cromwell and Slater (2004). There exists voluminous literature on each issue. Our job is not to add to them, but to draw lessons from best practices across the region to use in advocacy activities for their replication. Lessons that one country can learn from the experiences of another and apply gainfully to itself are drawn through analysis of information gathered, to a significant extent, through Internet searching (Section 5.1 through 5.4).
