Chapter 3    Meeting Dos and Don’ts

The business world—and that of the nonprofit as well—seems enamored with meetings. I have tried very hard to figure out why this is, and failed. It may just be that we are destined to be stuck with fixed periodic meetings (sometimes even daily) in which we…what? Repeat what we did in prior meetings? All too often this is true!

Don’t get me wrong. There are occasions (I’ll identify the criteria, below) when a gathering of people for a specific purpose is efficacious. So go ahead and hold meetings when necessary, but be sure you do not make such gatherings a waste of time, or counterproductive. Let me explain.
