Steps to an Effective Closing

1. Review the major decisions, agreements and other actions of the meeting.

2. Review the new action items.

3. Review the open action items.

4. Take note of the team’s progress toward its objectives and how the outcomes of this meeting moved the team forward toward those objectives.

5. Set (or remind the team of) the date and time of the next meeting.

6. Evaluate the meeting.

7. Thank the members, especially the members who made special contributions to the success of the meeting.
