The skills of effective coaching

This short chapter is an introduction to the skills of effective coaching, and the purpose in writing it is twofold. Firstly, I want to bring together in one place all the skills that go to make up an effective coach so that the breadth and depth of the task of learning to coach can be appreciated. Secondly, I want to introduce a ‘tool’: the notion of intent that defines the use and application of each of the skills.
