In my 20 years or so in this business I've completed a few hundred projects, all with different scopes and deliverables. Many of them have faced the issues that I've outlined in this book and failed to overcome them, so they were not as successful as they could've been.
However, there are many that were extremely successful because we removed all the obstacles, the client cooperated, and we developed good SEO and content practices. It's important to understand that these case studies worked well because the sites had a proactive and responsive IT and website management team that quickly implemented everything we created. Additionally, the clients invested in the three pillars of good SEO in the way of content publishing, tech improvements, and link strategies.
I will outline some of these successful projects in this chapter. It's important to understand that good results are achievable when best practices are followed.
How to Keep the Success Going
There are many projects that were not successful for reasons outside of the client relationship. Additionally, there have been several updates with Google over the years that have made some of these practices and rankings obsolete.
It's important to understand that maintaining positive results on an ongoing basis requires many different things. These include the following:
