Ten years ago, we at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University created an Executive MBA program for participants from around the world by adapting the emerging concept of “virtual teams” and applying its principles to professional management development. The resulting educational approach became known as the Place and Space Model.™ One of the model’s core concepts, the “virtual learning team,” is a distinctive educational process that takes advantage of experience, individual readiness, and reflective practice to achieve high-impact leadership and managerial development.
