Zone Equipment Markings
Zone equipment markings require slightly different information. Examples of those
requirements are presented in Figures 9.1 through 9.5. Zone equipment is required to have the
following marking:
Class
Zone
Symbol: ‘‘Ex’’ (Canada) or ‘‘AEx’’ (USA)
Protection Technique(s) [52]
Gas Classification Group(s) [53]
Temperature Classification [54]
There is an exception for Zone marking for an associated apparatus that is not suitable for
hazardous (classified) location service. An example of that might be an intrinsically safe
component, installed as part of an intrinsically safe system, but located outside of the
hazardous (classified) area. ...
