Electrical Transmission
and Distribution Systems
Electric utilities recognize the use of IEEE C2, National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) for
design and operation of their low-, medium-, high-, and extra-high voltage transmission and
distribution systems, and electrical substations. That standard is also applicable for
distribution and substation systems in industrial facilities. It is sometimes mistakenly confused
by individuals outside of the utility industry with NFPA 70
