Special Occupancies
OVERVIEW
This chapter covers the following seven selected occupancy types for which special requirements are provided in Chapter 5 of the National Electrical Code® (NEC®):
• Health care facilities
• Assembly occupancies
• Theaters and audience areas of motion picture studios
• Carnivals, circuses, fairs, and similar events
• Agricultural buildings
• Recreational vehicle (RV) parks
• Marinas and boatyards
In some cases, as in hospitals, the typical requirements of the Code are modified in very significant ways, whereas in others, such as places of assembly, the modifications are primarily restrictions on permitted wiring methods.
