Electrical Equipment in a Corrosive Environment |
Electrical equipment installed at industrial or commercial facilities could be exposed to both indoor and outdoor environment. Composed of different kinds of materials, both metals and insulators, electrical equipment are subjected to deteriorating corrosion processes, the rate of which strongly depends on the presence of various gases, vapors, and particles and combinations thereof in the surrounding air [1]. The following sections focus on different corrosive factors and the possible response of each of the materials that constitute the equipment to the atmospheric exposure.
3.1 CORROSION FACTORS IN THE ATMOSPHERE
3.1.1 TYPES OF CORROSIVE ATMOSPHERES
