structures, in order to efciently decrease the battery cost and extend the
operational life span. The capacity loss could also be decreased by (a) careful
control of the charging SOC of VFB, (b) membranes developed with lower
vanadium permeability and (c) electrodes with high electrochemical activity.
With the above-mentioned modications, the cost of VFB could be reduced
dramatically. Figure 9.38 indicates the cost target of Rongke Power in the
future; it is expected that the cost of a 1 MW/5 MWh VFB system can reach
$400 per kWh in the very near future.
