8.5. Circuit Simulation Models
In order to understand the modeling and simulation of ICs, we begin by visiting several basic circuit elements, namely, voltage and current sources, resistors, capacitors, and inductors. We also highlight several fundamental concepts from linear circuit analysis, specifically, the governing relationships for current and voltage throughout a circuit consisting of these basic elements. Next, we discuss the formulation of structured representations for circuit equations. In general, using analytical expressions for the solutions of these circuit equations would be computationally impractical for large-scale analysis. Hence, we will explore alternate numerical techniques for their solution.
