ABOUT THIS CHAPTER
In this chapter, we introduce cryptography and encryption applications. To begin with, we use encryption as a way to protect individual files. We examine the following topics:
• Encryption fundamentals, including cryptanalysis
• Building blocks for computer-based encryption
• Features and properties of effective file encryption
• Digital rights management
