Don’t Forget the Heads Up and Thank You

If you really want to humanize your survey efforts, consider a courteous heads up email letting your constituents know when your survey is coming and why. It’s also appropriate to follow up with a “thank-you” or reminder depending on whether or not the constituent replied. An appropriate follow-up to a nonresponder might be, “Why aren’t you responding?” Think back to my Starwood example. I’ve never answered any of their surveys. So why not send a message asking what would make me respond? Now that’s a survey I’d respond to.
