This chapter describes the equipment, the test methods, and some of the causes of error and uncertainty that attend electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing. For the ease of measurement and analysis, radiated emissions are assumed to predominate above 30MHz and conducted emissions are assumed to predominate below 30MHz. Emissions testing requires that the equipment under test is set up within a controlled electromagnetic environment under its normal operating conditions. The operating configuration is normally specified within emissions standards to be the one which maximizes emissions.
