Abstract
This chapter digs into the issues of safeguarding Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) beginning with an overview of CPS, their attributes, and their importance in various applications. It discusses threats, vulnerabilities, the lack of standardized security frameworks, human aspects, and social engineering. It examines the dangers of CPS security breaches, including financials, infrastructure interruption, invasion of privacy, and data compromise. The importance of key security issues, such as secure design, threat modeling, intrusion detection, secure software development, and risk assessment, is emphasized. Firewalls, network segmentation, and physical security mechanisms are all discussed in detail. In addition, incident response, secure software development, and real-world case studies are covered in this chapter. Machine learning, blockchain, secure hardware, and privacy-preserving strategies are all discussed.
