The previous chapter emphasized the importance of choosing physical exercise as a means for enjoying a fuller, healthier, and more emotionally rewarding life. For many years the value of one specific form of cardiovascular exercise—jogging—has been widely recognized. Unfortunately, the value of what I call “inner jogging” is not as widely accepted. In particular, the powerful physical effects of music and humor to positively condition and exercise the body on the inside can be an important part of gaining the ability to choose how you feel.
